Using Digital Media to Increase Your Adoption Opportunities

By Josh Redfern, LCSW // Utah Director of Social Work

On October 22 we had a great little informational meeting in our Utah office about how to boost your exposure in adoption. Families interested in getting noticed by more potential birth parents came to listen to Adoption.org and Adoption.com speak on the topic. The team from Adoption.com shared some great insights and provided information about their Ultimate Package. This is the Parent Profiles package that Adoption.org uses with its clients to help them have exceptional profiles and increase their reach.

Some of the points that I took from the meeting were:

  • Youtube is the 2nd biggest search engine in the world. Makes you think about the power of video.
  • Pictures are more likely to be shared than text on social media, so it’s probably a good idea to do infographics and memes so that your information will be shared more often.
  • BE YOURSELF! Don’t worry about portraying what you think people want to see. Be authentic.

The internet gives us way more ways to get in front of possible adoption situations. When you learn how to use it properly, or have expert partners like Adoption.com helping you to do it, you increase your chances of finding a successful adoption match.

We’re excited for our next informational meeting on 12/3/15. We’ll be talking about a topic that all adoptive parents are interested in: How to afford adoption.
