It's So Nice To Meet You!
There were additional fertility procedures we could have tried, but God placed a sense of peace and joy on our hearts to explore adoption. God works in mysterious ways. And here we are, connecting with you!
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” – Lao Tzu
Hi there! We are Michael and Taryn, and it is so very nice to meet you! We are beyond thankful that you are taking the time to consider us as potential adoptive parents for your child. Our adoption journey is not an uncommon one. After experiencing fertility issues, we decided we were meant to adopt. There were additional fertility procedures we could have tried, but God placed a sense of peace and joy on our hearts to explore adoption. God works in mysterious ways. And here we are, connecting with you! It is almost laughable to say we have an adoption plan because God has shown us He will lead the way! However, our hearts' desire is to adopt an infant. We are comfortable with just about all levels of openness with the birth mother. We believe it is important that our child has the gift of knowing their birth mom and dad, if possible. Everyone wants to know where they come from, and we want our child to have that same ability. We want to know as much as possible about our child’s biological family, too, because it will only help us love them better! Our thoughts are that the birth mother and/or father would become an extended member of our family, but we also understand if they do not wish to have regular contact. We believe we can make it work in any way the birth mom desires. To give you a look into our lives, we are both originally from rural towns in Texas. Yee-Haw! Just kidding, we're not cowboys. But, we are fans of the Cowboys football team! We didn't end up too far from either one of our hometowns, but our current community is more of an urban/rural area. The city we now call home offers the ability to do just about whatever you want to do, while at the same time providing somewhat of a small town feel. We have a local amusement park and water park, an amazing canyon a short drive from our home, and our city is filled with several other family activity venues. Our community offers all sorts of activities for kids such as sporting leagues, ballet, and theater. The neighborhood we currently live in has lots of families and good people. With several schools in our area, we are lucky that the neighborhood elementary and park is a short walk from our home. We are, by all admissions, animal lovers deluxe! With four dachshunds named Teddi Bear, Daisy Duke, Max, and Scarlett, our house is rarely quiet because they keep us on our toes with their little lively personalities. Oh, and they are just so cute, LONG, and chubby (which makes them so squeezable :) ) ! Traveling is definitely one of our other passions! Our favorite place we've traveled to is Destin, Florida. The beach is beautiful, the waters are emerald green, and there are lots of fun things to do with family and friends! Boogie boarding is a must-do, and we of course spend time building sand communities. We’ve even had a boys versus girls sand castle competition that eventually ended in total destruction!!! Someone stepped on someone else’s sand castle, and it was all over from there! And, it’s kind of Michael’s thing to take the nieces and nephews hunting for burrowing crabs at night along the beach with flashlights. He’s such a cool uncle! It’s no wonder we plan for Destin to definitely be a place that our future child will grow up visiting and exploring. Other things we do for fun include spending time with family and friends, cooking good food, relaxing together in our hot tub, playing board games, loving on our dachshunds, and searching out TV shows to get hooked on. We’re currently obsessed with the tv shows 90-Day Fiancé and Ancient Aliens. Michael likes to call himself “Em”, short for Emeril, when he cooks. Honestly, though, it’s usually delicious when he cooks. Michael likes to grill, whip up tilapia, and stuff all sorts of peppers with the good stuff like bacon and cheese! Now, we have to mention that our family is a huge part of our lives! Most of our family lives within a couple of hours from our town, with the furthest ones living about 5 hours from us. Taryn has two sisters and Michael has a sister and a brother. We have 5 nephews ranging from ages 4 to 18; and, 3 nieces between the ages of 8 and 22. Lots of kiddos equals lots of fun!!! And, of course, you'll find us with them on birthdays, holidays, and at least once a month throughout the year. Summertime is always so much fun because we have tons of birthdays and we are together most weekends! We are excited about the way our life will change once we have our precious baby! Taryn plans on taking her maternity leave to welcome the baby, and then we have a wonderful daycare/preschool already picked out for when Taryn returns to work. We already work together at our day jobs, so we feel we are somewhat prepped for working together to raise a healthy and amazing child. Our weekday evenings will be filled with a teamwork approach to loving on and taking care of our new little one, and we can see our weekends filled with new adventures to enhance our child's well-being. Imagining it now, we plan on lots of play time and play dates, exploring outdoor activities as a family, spending time with cousins; and, most importantly, hanging out as a family enjoying fun, food and laughter!
More About Michael
Michael is going to be a Dad that any child would be lucky to have because he will be their rock. He was shaped by a close relationship to his own father, and this foundation will lead him in the parenting of our child.
Michael with Teddi Bear & Daisy Duke in their little red tutus! He’s such a good Dog Dad already!
Michael is a smart, kind and giving man who is an absolute sports fanatic. He loves to watch them all: football, basketball, baseball, etc. If you've ever known a sports fanatic, you will probably understand that ESPN is regularly showing on our TV. Michael has a pretty magnetic personality, and he is surrounded by lifelong friendships, a lot of which he has had since his school days. Michael also enjoys keeping up with the stock market and spending some serious quality couch time with our dachshunds! He has a huge sweet tooth, with Jolly Ranchers being his favorite. Don't ever challenge him in Scrabble because he is a Mean (hardly) Scrabble-winning machine! If you ever need a hand up, Michael is definitely the guy to help. He has such a big and giving heart. Michael is naturally good with kids, and several of our co-workers' children eagerly seek him out to visit with him. And, of course, the nieces and nephews think he's kind of a big deal, too! Michael is going to be a Dad that any child would be lucky to have because he will be their rock. He was shaped by a close relationship to his own father, and this foundation will lead him in the parenting of our child.
More About Taryn
Plus, Taryn loves anything that involves family time! Birthdays, holidays, recitals...you name it, she'll be there!
Taryn on our road trip to the Grand Canyon. Who could resist a jumping photo in front of this majestic place?
Taryn is somewhat of an overachiever! Probably due to FOMO, she participated in just about everything possible in school including basketball, twirling, and cheerleading. Academics were always her strong suit, allowing her to graduate as the Valedictorian of her high school class. Taryn continues to love learning and remains an avid reader. The Hunger Games and Twilight series are definitely on the top of her list. She also randomly scopes out Pinterest for cooking recipes, fashion trends that she'll utterly fail at, or just anything that sparks her interests. Plus, Taryn loves anything that involves family time! Birthdays, holidays, recitals...you name it, she'll be there! Girls' nights and lunches are a favorite, too! Taryn is a giver like Michael, but moreso with her time. If family or friends need her help with something, all they have to do is ask. She also strives to give back to the community by helping with the 2nd grade Sunday School class at church and arranging United Way activities at work. Taryn has participated in Habitat for Humanity, JDRF fundraising walks, and her and Michael fostered dogs with their local SPCA chapter. Taryn is excited to be a Mom to show a child all that the world has to offer! Her maternal instinct is strong, and you can see that when she is taking care of the nieces and nephews like they are her own children. Plus, she treats the dachshunds like her babies already. Taryn lives her life with continuous empathy, and she has a kind heart. Taryn believes there is so much to love about life, and she desires to share such a wonderful life with a child of their own.
